A disturbing trend on TikTok has led to the death of 11-year-old Tommie-Lee Billington from Lancaster, England. According to The Sun, this follows the deaths of two teenage girls who participated in the same “challenge” on the app.
It all began when Tommie was at a friend’s house for a sleepover on Saturday. The boys decided to try a challenge they saw on TikTok, which involved “huffing” dangerous gases or solvents to get high. Common substances used include dry shampoo, spray deodorant, and glue.
After Tommie and his friend attempted the trend, his heart stopped immediately, and he died instantly, according to medical staff. His family is now mourning the tragic loss of their 11-year-old boy.
His mother, Sherry, has taken to Facebook to urge other parents to talk to their children and prevent them from using TikTok. She wrote, “This cost my son his life from trying something other kids are doing. Please talk to your children about the consequences of this. It is beyond me why anyone would even try this! It’s so dangerous!”
“I have never felt pain like this. My whirlwind. I just love you so much, mate. My baby boy. You will forever be in my heart. I will do my best to make sure your name and beautiful face save other children’s lives and prevent other families from suffering this deep, deep hurt,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
