US Olympic Committee Says Lia Thomas Is Welcome To Try Out – For The Men’s Team

Lia Thomas, a transgender athlete who achieved remarkable success in swimming, has formally requested a spot on the Women’s National Team from the US Olympic Committee. However, Committee Chair Joe Barron responded by stating that it is not an option and suggested that Thomas could try out for the men’s team instead.

As a participant in the women’s division, Thomas was expected to be the top seed in all the competitions she entered. However, as a male athlete, she would face a much more challenging path, starting with a ranking of approximately 7,106th. This position is more likely to lead to offers from Catholic High Schools rather than competitive success.

Thomas intends to appeal the decision to the International Committee, which will likely result in this story being covered again with a slightly different headline.

Expressing her discontent, Thomas shared with Vanity Fair, “It’s unfair. I simply want to demonstrate to the world that someone who underwent male puberty and later transitioned to female is no different from a cisgender female athlete. It’s inconceivable that I could represent the extreme end of an issue that should not even exist. However, I refuse to acknowledge that my absence from the competition might have been more beneficial to the transgender movement than putting someone who would undoubtedly become a focal point of the debate.”

Her perspective on the matter appears to be quite firm. God Bless America.
