His Chicken Laid A Huge Egg But He Couldn’t Believe What Was Inside

Collecting eggs is a regular chore for numerous farmers around the world. Yet, for an Australian farmer, one routine day of egg collection turned unexpectedly intriguing.

While gathering eggs from his hens, he stumbled upon an exceptionally large egg. This egg tipped the scales at 6.2 ounces, roughly three times the weight of a standard egg.

A free-range chicken on his farm was responsible for laying this extraordinary egg. Farmer Scott Stockman shared a photo of the unusually large egg online, but there was an unexpected surprise waiting to be revealed.

Comparing the egg to a regular-sized one made it appear almost unreal. However, the true astonishment came when the egg was cracked open.

Inside, they discovered a second perfectly formed egg. Speaking to local news, Scott expressed his amazement at finding two fully developed eggs within one shell.

At Charles Strutt University, a veterinary sciences expert mentioned that he had never encountered such a phenomenon before. He speculated that the hen’s ovary might have produced the egg without actually laying it.

Given that the egg had been inside the hen for an entire day, another ovum was likely released. The shell of this subsequent ovum would have formed around the previously laid egg from the day before.

While experts confirmed that the inner egg would have been safe for consumption, Scott chose not to eat it, considering that they collect around 50,000 eggs daily.

It seems eggs don’t always make it to the dinner table in that household!
