After President Trump made his famous call to “Build the wall,” President Joe Biden seems to be completing the project that Trump never started, albeit not at the Mexican-American border. Instead, President Biden is allocating funds to construct privacy fencing around his preferred vacation spot in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, to ensure his safety during his time away from the White House.
Recent images of Biden’s exclusive beachfront property reveal ongoing construction of a dividing wall between his land and that of his neighbors. The neighbors are angered by Biden’s decision to erect the wall, especially after his refusal to continue the construction of Donald Trump’s border wall legacy.
Biden’s new wall features substantial stone pillars interspersed with white fencing. The construction of this wall has been underway for some time and is now nearing completion, aimed at safeguarding the president’s privacy during his vacations on the Delaware shore.
Reportedly, Biden is investing close to half a million dollars in the construction of the wall around his Rehoboth Beach residence. Exclusive photos of the wall were initially obtained by the Daily Mail and have since been widely circulated across the internet.
Republicans are expressing outrage at Biden for prioritizing his privacy, especially given their opposition to Trump’s border wall.
“So, walls work at Joe Biden’s beach house, but not the southern border?” tweeted Ohio Republican Representative Jim Jordan, in an ironic show of support for the former president, who was removed from the White House after serving just one term.
Biden’s intention to construct a privacy screen at his beach house was initially proposed in 2021, when the Department of Homeland Security awarded a contract to a construction company for additional fencing to protect the president during his occasional visits to the Delaware shore.
Taxpayers are funding the construction of Biden’s security fencing through a government contract. The initial estimate for the “purchase and installation of security fencing” at President Joe Biden’s Rehoboth Beach home was set at $490,324.
However, due to inflation, the cost of Biden’s wall has risen by approximately $34,000 from the original contract amount. While the exact reason for the price increase by Turnstone Holdings, LLC, remains unclear, it is evident that they are receiving additional funds from American taxpayers to build the wall, aimed at ensuring Biden’s security and privacy during his beach visits.
Construction of Biden’s security wall is anticipated to extend through 2023. The privacy screen is projected to be finished by September 2023, meaning it won’t be ready in time for Biden to enjoy the summer vacation season at the beach.
Many locals are pleased that Biden visits their beach town and are unfazed by his decision to build a privacy screen.
Local Delaware resident Jenn Stone told NBC News: “Not everybody has the best intentions. If he wants to keep himself and his family safe, he has every right to do so.”
