In a truly astonishing moment during the White House press briefing in mid-May, an independent media journalist expressed his views on the purported Clinton ties to Epstein and the alleged Clinton “body count,” which left the room in shocked silence and caused a stir online. The journalist was affiliated with ZeroHedge and was present at the press briefing as part of President Trump’s initiative to engage new media more actively.
The event began without any significant deviations from the norm, aside from the media outlet the journalist represented. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt introduced him by stating, “We have Liam Cosgrove, the White House correspondent for Zero Hedge. With that, Liam, please kick us off.”
Cosgrove, somewhat meandering in his inquiry, remarked, “Thank you, Caroline. So the first question pertains to foreign policy. The President has made several strides towards peace on multiple fronts, including India, Pakistan, discussions with the Houthis, engagement with Iran, and conversations with Putin. It is quite remarkable that Biden did not engage with Putin throughout the entire duration of the war, especially given that two nuclear powers were involved in a proxy conflict. I genuinely appreciate these initiatives by the current president. I must be honest.”
Not finished with his question, the “new media” journalist concluded his lengthy preamble by asking Leavitt, “However, as of today, we are still financing the wars in both Israel and Ukraine. Can Americans anticipate an end to funding foreign wars at some point? Would you consider that one of the President’s objectives?”
Leavitt, in a detailed response, conveyed to him, in part, “Well, I believe I can encapsulate the President’s foreign policy agenda in two words: America first. This means prioritizing the American people and the American taxpayer. That is why the President is working diligently and expeditiously to bring an end to these conflicts in both Israel and Gaza, as well as the Russia-Ukraine War.”
After she completed her response, elaborating on the president’s foreign policy agenda, Cosgrove addressed the Clinton-Epstein inquiry. He began by stating, “And my only other question for you is that over the weekend, President Trump shared a video on Truth Social that highlights what many refer to as the Clinton body count, which pertains to the unusual number of suicides occurring within Clinton circles. I have a headline from The Washington Post that claims Trump promotes false conspiracy theories linking the Clintons to various deaths.”]
Continuing, Cosgrove recounted another frequently mentioned story related to the video shared by the president, stating, “I just wanted to briefly emphasize that this was not included in Trump’s video, but it comes from the Arkansas Times, regarding the death of Mark Middleton, a former aide in the Clinton White House who was discovered deceased on a Clinton Foundation property. I will quote from the Arkansas Times: Middleton reportedly shot himself in the chest with a shotgun and also hanged himself from a tree using an extension cord. I find it perplexing how someone could commit suicide in such a manner. However, if representatives from the Washington Post are present, perhaps you could clarify how this was determined to be a suicide.”]
Then, moving on to Clinton’s purported connection to Epstein, Cosgrove remarked, “This serves as a segue into my inquiry regarding the most notorious Clinton-related suicide, that of Jeffrey Epstein. Numerous questions still surround that case, and you have released phase one of the Epstein files.”]
He further elaborated, delving into the Epstein matter more broadly, “What was notably absent from that release is any indication of his connections to intelligence agencies, which is fundamentally the crux of the issue—not merely the trafficking of young girls, but doing so on behalf of intelligence agencies and possibly as part of a blackmail operation with potential links to the Israeli government. Therefore, regarding phase two, when can we anticipate its release?
As Cosgrove posed his extensive question, the room became quiet, clearly taken aback. Leavitt, regaining her composure, replied, “I am aware that the Attorney General has pledged to release those files. I would refer you to the Department of Justice regarding her timeline, but historically, when she has made a commitment, she has honored it, and I am confident that she will do so in this instance as well.”
