Ever come across the phrase ‘less is more’? It’s a familiar one, isn’t it? While this minimalist approach has its merits in many scenarios, there are times when it doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Take, for example, the outfit chosen by country star Kelsea Ballerini for her hosting gig at the CMT Awards in Austin on April 7.
Ballerini has hosted the event four times since 2021, but this was her first solo venture. Throughout the evening, she dazzled with nine different outfit changes. While awards shows are known for their glitz and sometimes bold fashion statements, Ballerini’s choice of a gold bodysuit with seemingly nothing underneath raised a few eyebrows.
According to PEOPLE, the 30-year-old had filmed a new rendition of “Love Me Like You Mean It” in the gold bodysuit and towering heels, which was showcased during the ceremony. She seemed to fully embrace this bold look. However, after facing some online criticism, Ballerini later addressed the controversy.

In a TikTok video, Kelsea directly addressed some of the comments she received, such as, “You forgot your pants for your performance,” to which she responded, “Shut up. No I didn’t.”
Another comment queried, “Where are your pants?” Kelsea’s retort was once again, “Shut up.”
Her fans rallied behind her, flooding the comments with support:
“LMAO, Kelsea, you look AMAZING tonight,” one fan commented.
“Every outfit was on point,” another fan praised.
“It looked incredible,” a third chimed in, “you’re perfect.”
