Sen. Elizabeth Warren got caught in a blatant lie after she was asked about former President Joe Biden’s mental fitness during a podcast interview, with the notorious Democrat claiming that she had not noticed any decline in Biden’s mental acuity, which later led one conservative influencer to call her out for using a “lie and then laugh” strategy.
For context, during an April 20, 2025, interview on the podcast “Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) weighed in on the so-called “constitutional crisis” surrounding the deportation of illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, along with several other hot-button topics, including the senator’s comments about not noticing any decline in former President Biden’s mental fitness.
Furthermore, Sen. Warren came under fire for her response to Fragoso’s questions during the podcast interview about whether she regretted saying that President Biden “had a mental acuity, he had a sharpness to him,” with Fragoso clarifying that the senator had made the claim “up until July of last year.” In response, Sen. Warren said, “I said what I believe to be true.”
In response to the senator’s bold statement, Fragoso quickly shot back, “You think [Biden] was as sharp as you?” Immediately, Sen. Warren got extremely uncomfortable, shakily laughing before replying, “Um, I said I had not seen decline and I hadn’t at that point.” Fragoso asked again, “You did not see any decline from 2024 Joe Biden to 2021 Joe Biden?”
Next, Sen. Warren attempted to defend herself, saying, “Not when I said that. You know the…the thing is, he, look, he was sharp, he was on his feet, I saw him [at a] live event, I had meetings with him a couple of times.” Fragoso shot back, “Senator, ‘on his feet’ is not praise, ‘he can speak in sentences’ is not praise.” The senator conceded, “All right, fair enough, fair enough,” as she shuddered and nervously laughed again. She continued, “Look, it is…the question is, what are we gonna do now?”
Continuing, Sen. Warren said that her plan was to rally the Senate, saying, “We are pulling ourselves together, because it increases our power; we don’t have as much power as we want, but we don’t have no power, and we’ve got to use all of our tools in the toolbox to do as much as we humanly possibly can. This is for all the marbles, Sam.” Fragoso replied, “Last time, it was for all the marbles!”
Pushing back against the senator’s comments, Fragoso critiqued the Democratic Party’s rhetoric during the 2020 election, saying, “In 2020, it was the soul of the nation. How many times is it going to be for all the marbles? Can we just have a normal election?” The senator replied, “I’d love that.” Fragoso quipped, “How many marbles are there?”
When the PBD Podcast X account posted a clip of Sen. Warren laughing nervously after saying that she did not see a decline in Biden’s mental sharpness, they called the senator out for “gaslighting about Biden’s mental sharpness” and added, “Lie and then laugh?” Moreover, conservatives brutally roasted her in the comments. One X user wrote, “Good for this guy actually asking a question of substance and holding her to answering it! Doesn’t happen much.” Another user quipped, “Her lying tricks are all over the place. She can’t even mentally keep track of all the lies.”
