Trump Defiant After Court Ruling

President Donald Trump struck a defiant tone late Friday after a federal appeals court invalidated most of his sweeping tariffs — but left them in place for now.

ALL TARIFFS ARE STILL IN EFFECT!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, blasting the 7-4 appeals court decision as “highly partisan” and warning that if the tariffs were removed, “it would literally destroy the United States of America.”

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Trump exceeded presidential authority under emergency powers by declaring trade deficits and drug trafficking as “national emergencies.” The Constitution reserves tariff powers for Congress, though presidents have been delegated broad authority over the decades.

The court’s decision complicates Trump’s trade strategy, which reshaped decades of U.S. policy and brought in more than $142 billion in tariff revenue by July. His administration has warned revoking them could lead to “financial ruin” for the United States.

Despite the ruling, the tariffs remain in place as Trump vows to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court. “At the start of this Labor Day weekend, we should all remember that TARIFFS are the best tool to help our Workers, and support Companies that produce great MADE IN AMERICA products,” he said.

The fight now heads into uncharted legal territory — and could determine whether a president can unilaterally use tariffs as a weapon in global trade wars.

What do you think? Should the Supreme Court side with Trump — or Congress?
