Pierce Brosnan Is Unrecognizable as Prince Naseem Hamed’s Trainer in Movie About Boxer’s Life

That’s Pierce Brosnan, right?

On Tuesday, April 23, the actor dressed considerably differently than he usually does to play Brendan Ingle, the trainer of boxer Prince Naseem Hamed, in the upcoming sports drama Giant.

Seen in a track jacket and black slacks, Brosnan, 70, had exceptionally thin stark-white hair when he was seen on the Yorkshire, England, set of the movie. The ex-James Bond actor was seen grinning in another photo while donning a beige jacket.

Earlier this month, a number of publications, including Variety and Deadline, revealed that the Irish actor, with Sylvester Stallone serving as executive producer, would portray the Irish-born Ingle in Giant, alongside Amir El-Masry as Hamed. Directed by Rowan Athale from a screenplay he wrote.

The film “is the true story of Hamed’s humble beginnings on the tough working-class streets of Sheffield and his discovery by Ingle, himself a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer,” according to a description released by Deadline and Variety.
“Their unlikely partnership, along with Naz’s unorthodox style, cocky persona and sheer dominance in the ring, propelled them to the top of boxing’s elite and unprecedented levels of global superstardom, all in the face of the rampant Islamophobia and racism of ’80s and ’90s Britain,” according to the synopsis.

2015 saw the induction of Hamed, 50, a five-time featherweight world champion, into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Ingle was a professional boxer himself, passing away in May 2018 at the age of 77. Throughout his life, he trained several world-champion boxers, including Hamed, and was born in Dublin.
